ABOUT THE INDUSTRY: Awarding employees has evolved from a pat on the back and a handshake to giving the employee a choice on how he or she would like to be rewarded. Today, for the most part, companies work with an award provider to determine a program budget and select merchandise (e.g. jewelry, clocks, luggage, and electronics) accordingly. Brochures are then printed with the award choices. Honored employees then select an award for fulfillment. The limitations to this 'standard' awarding model are listed below:
